One of the most highly regarded music acts in the Midlands. The EightyNines perform classic 80's and 90's covers, all delivered with style, cool and top notch musicianship.

Musical nostalgia is now more popular than ever. Two of the UK's biggest radio stations, Absolute Radio and Greatest Hits Radio, now have entire stations dedicated to playing just 80's and 90's music. The EightyNines perform classic hits from the 80's and 90's - 2 fantastic decades for music. From New Romantics in the Eighties, to Nineties Britpop and everything in between, the EightyNines have it covered. We have 20 years experience in live entertainment, having performed at hundreds of functions and events to many thousands of people over the years. 2 of our members are resident musicians at Jools Hollands "Jamhouse" in Birmingham, and our sax player Elliot comes with a degree in jazz from Birmingham’s prestigious Conservatoire of Music. With 3 of us, we are versatile enough to be background musicians or instigate a full on party and with years of experience, we are extremely adaptable, and as individuals or together can also provide live music for wedding ceremonies or drinks receptions. 80's & 90's is our core, but if you require some jazz, background music or even music to walk up the aisle to - no problem at all.

What to expect

The 80's and 90's produced some of the greatest artists and greatest songs ever written. Duran Duran, James, Dexys Midnight Runners, Prince, Oasis, The Human League, Pulp, Tears for Fears, INXS, Erasure - the list is endless. From 80's dance floor fillers to classic Britpop, these 2 decades produced hit after hit after hit and we make sure all the classics are in our repetoire. We pride ourselves on taking on some covers from these decades that many bands wouldn't even contemplate and making it work. We never perform from a generic set list, and instead play what is required for that particular event, taking into account the atmosphere, age group and other factors. Being a good act isn't just about playing well, but also being able to read a room, and adjusting accordingly. We usually perform for 2 hours, and you can split this time to work best for your event. For example, 3 x 40 mins, 2 x 1 hours, or even 2 hours straight. It really is entirely up to you. We can also provide some background music via an iPad before the show and in between sets.
