A four piece Ceilidh band based in West Cornwall playing a lively mix of upbeat, high energy Celtic folk music. Tunes, songs and dances.

Whippletree are an established and popular four-piece Ceilidh band based in West Cornwall. We have played at many festivals across Cornwall including Mazey Day at the Golowan Festival in Penzance, Newlyn Fish Festival, Lafrowda in St. Just and St Piran's Day in Redruth. We've played the Royal Cornwall Show on three occasions and are regulars at the Stithians Show. We have also performed at numerous Weddings, Birthday celebrations and play regularly at local events, including many charitable causes. All seasoned and experienced musicians, we play a lively mix of upbeat, high energy Celtic folk music with fiddle, guitars, recorder, percussion and vocals. Our tunes, songs and dances are guaranteed to get your feet tapping and you'll be encouraged to get involved in the dances with our very own caller who'll guide you through them. Above all, we have fun and make sure you do too.

What to expect

If you book us, prepare to have fun! Oh and bring your dancing shoes! We are Folk based so you can expect a varied mix of tunes and songs from Cornwall, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. Lively and upbeat Celtic music with our own twist on it.

Whippletree are: Chris Bevington: Guitar, Lead Vocals, Dance Caller. Steve Preston: Fiddle. Hetty Eaton: Recorder. Jackie Clarke: Bodhrán, Percussion, Vocals.

Peace of mind

We always aim to set up and sound check before your guests arrive. If we have to set up while people are there, we do so with minimum disruption. We ask for access to the venue at least an hour before you'd like us to play. Afterwards, all equipment is removed and packed away with the playing area left as we found it. Whippletree also carry full third party liability insurance.

Barn dance

Whippletree were such a great ceilidh band for a charity barn dance that I organised last year. They arrived with all the equipment they needed and set up quick, even letting us use their speakers to play music when they weren’t playing! They got everyone dancing and I heard so many compliments about them throughout the night. Would definitely use them again, and recommend. Great band

50th Birthday Party - Fabulous Band

I booked Whippletree for my 50th Birthday Party. I wanted live music rather than a disco. The evening was a huge success. Everyone was up dancing and enjoying themselves. Formal Dinner - Made Fun

I organised a 200+ Person formal dinner with speeches and presentations, but wanted something really different for our entertainment. Whippletree really came through and bought the night alive. So much so that the Lord Mayor of Plymouth asked if they were playing at the next dinner as she had so much fun, she wanted to see them again.
