Short Description

Annette Gregory is a jazz vocalist who brings her love of jazz, lots of experience and bags of personality to every performance. Annette's knowledge of jazz songs is extensive and she has a considerable repertoire, so she can tailor a set to suit your tastes. Her greatest love is for swing and the songs made famous by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra and Nina Simone. Annette is available as a solo artist accompanied by a piano or you can book Annette with her band.

Act Introduction

Annette grew up in Manchester in a Jamaican family where ska and country music were regularly played. Annette was definitely born to sing! At the age of four, she was put in charge of the record player and would sing along to Jim Reeves’ The Old Wooden Cross. After singing for many years in different bands, it was a chance encounter which led to Annette joining a community jazz band as their principal vocalist which set Annette on the road to becoming a jazz singer. Annette found her true voice after hearing Ella Fitzgerald, Annette was not just inspired by Ella sound but by the sound of jazz. Since then Annette has recorded her first EP Living the Dream, in 2014.

Gregory’s warm personality and accomplished singing went down well and I was also impressed with the quality of the instrumentalists, who all acquitted themselves well in their various roles.
