Established for nearly 30 years the band plays a lively mix of traditional Irish entertainment, songs, jigs,reels and comedy, a highly adaptable band suitable for every event from the very large to pubs, hotels, to festivals, weddings or even wakes! Available from 2-6 pieces. They have toured internationally , recorded 6 albums and made numerous live broadcasts on Radio, terrestrial and Sky T.V. Black Velvet are Cornwall's premier Irish band based in Cornwall, covering Cornwall, Devon Somerset and across the UK for parties, weddings and corporate events..

What to expect

At Black Velvet gigs there is something for everyone, whether you like the thoughtful songs, enjoy the foot tapping tunes or Alan's comedy ...he has jokes for every occasion! The sets are very variable in terms of content depending on the event/ audience, requests are encouraged , and home county gigs include some Cornish sing along favourites. Black Velvet are a very flexible band, and gigs over the years have included all types of venues from the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Centaur and the Guinness village to the Royal Cornwall show with over 100,000 visitors, to pubs,weddings, hotels and private parties.

Q: How long does setup take? A: Festival changeover can be done in as little as 15 min but preference is for an hr
Q: What are your space and power requirements? A: Can be very compact if necessary, as long as we have the size of a bay window or larger we can work around you! ideally 3mx4m
