The Cairn Quartet String ensemble perform across the world in all settings, from intimate settings to extravagant productions. They are equally at home soundtracking your perfect wedding day, launching your new product or adding some sparkle to your Corporate Events or adding a visual and audio Wow Factor to a band or artist, in the Studio or on the Arena Stage. Formed in 2007 whilst busking on the streets of Glasgow, the Cairn String Quartet are graduates of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) Specialising in the arrangement and performance of all musical genres, but particularly rock and pop, the quartet provides a tailored made experience designed to make your event memorable and unique. The String Quartet are the most in demand group in Scotland to soundtrack Weddings and Events, performing all genres of music on classical instruments. Composing their very own string arrangements, as well as collaborating with other Scottish composers and arrangers, has led their playlist to rival no other, over 1500 songs to choose form yourself. Expect Bach to Bowie to Beyonce, Ravel to Radiohead, Mozart to Metallica to Muse, Elgar to Ed Sheeran, Sinatra to Star Wars, Film ,TV and Video Games Themes from Still Game to Zelda!.

What to expect

Cairn String Quartet are passionate about music, write and arrange their own material performing throughout the UK, Europe and North and South America and North Africa, as well as providing backing strings for over 300 solo artists and bands including Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Frightened Rabbit, Twin Atlantic and Echo and the Bunnymen. Equally at home in their wellies as well as their Vivienne Westwoods, Festival appearances for the Cairn String Quartet include Glastonbury, T in the Park and Benicassim whilst Radio and TV Appearances are in abundance. Cairn String Quartet allow you to choose your own Soundtrack to your event, from start to finish from a huge playlist of approx 1500 songs, mostly covers of your favourite bands. They can also playlists for your guests to allow them to make requests during your Drinks Reception or Meal. Cairn String Quartet have always taken pride in their efficient and personal customer service, and will be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding any event.

Can we play outdoors?

Certainly if the weather is right! We cannot play in the rain under any circumstances and direct sunlight damages the instruments so we may need a parasol on very sunny days

Q: How long does setup take? A: about 30 mins
Q: What are your space and power requirements? A: approx 3m x 2m would be luxurious and if using our amplifiers we would require power. We would not recommend amplification in intimate events such as wedding ceremonies
Q: Do you take requests? A: Absolutely

Q: How long does setup take?

Cairn String Quartet played at our wedding at Myres Castle on 22 June and they were simply fantastic. Rave reviews from all guests and the mix of music they were able to play was exceptional. They created such a lovely atmosphere during the ceremony – a moment we will never forget!! Thank you again CSQ, you were amazing!!
