Kibitz are a 6 piece band from Leeds performing energetic and soulful music taking inspiration from the melodies of traditional Jewish wedding Klezmer music and Eastern European folk tunes, tinged with gypsy jazz improv and driven by infectious Balkan beats. Their music seamlessly blends raucous Romanian and Turkish dance tunes with heart wrenching Ukrainian and Macedonian epics, always keeping the audience spellbound and dancing like there’s no tomorrow. Their flexible line up means they can accommodate any venue or event.

Robin Timmis - violin (also performs with Tim Jones & the Dark Lanterns, winners of FRoots Magazine’s best album of 2017 Editor’s choice award) BA Music, School of Oriental and African Studies
Oly Clarkson - clarinet (of festival favourites the After Hours Live Electro Swing)
Barney Tabor – accordion (MA in Composition, Leeds College of Music)
Luke Darlison – bass (MA in Composition, Leeds College of Music)
Ollie Margerison – guitar and vocals (MMus in experimental composition, Leeds Uni)
Alex Chadha - Drum kit and percussion

Kibitz perform regularly around the UK at weddings, bar mitzvah's, public gigs and corporate functions (Alton Towers) as well as festivals. Highlights of 2018 included performing on 3 consecutive days at Latitude festival, performing at Northern Green Gathering festival as well as performing as part of the BBC documentary 'A Very British History: The Jews of Leeds'. The band’s debut CD was featured on BBC Introducing and has been well received by the folk and alternative communities alike. Kibitz are currently working on their next album due to be released early 2019.
