Short Description

Barn dance and ceilidh band with caller, available for parties, weddings, etc in the Bath/Bristol/Somerset/Gloucestershire and Wiltshire area.

Pilgarlic is an experienced barn dance and ceilidh band, consisting of 4-5 band members and caller, who between them have about 100 years of running such events! We perform for parties, weddings, corporate events, - in fact, any event where you want your guests to have a lively and enjoyable time, under the guidance of an expert caller. The music we play is mostly folk tunes from England, Ireland, Scotland, America and Australia, though we can accommodate special requests if made in advance. As a speciality sideline we also do Regency dances, and have been a regular for the last few years at the Bath Regency Dance held in the Assembly Rooms. We bring our own equipment, and have full Public Liability Insurance (PLI).

What to expect

A typical evening of dancing will start at about 7.30-8.00pm and continue till 9.00pm when it would be normal to stop for refreshments. Dancing would then continue from 9.30 - 11.00pm-ish. These arrangements are flexible and can be varied to suit a client's wishes.

Pilgarlic played at a barn dance for my birthday at Saltford Hall on November 15 2008 - some two weeks later I am still getting comments about how great the band were, how they joined in the fun and created just the right atmosphere. They were very low key in their arrival and departure, undemanding, very professional and very appreciative. I recommend them highly if you want your evening to go with a swing and feel relaxed knowing you are in good hands of professional musicians who care about the service they give. I also think they undercharge!

"Very good. Only 4 musicians and a caller turned up but was fine. Could have done with some incidental music during dancers' rest breaks perhaps, but overall an excellent evening. The caller was particularly friendly and approachable and yet was still managing to get people to listen and dance, despite temperatures in the high 20s ! Thank you for your help.
