Act Introduction
Having been brought up in a musical environment, it was inevitable that Mike would make a name for himself as an artist in his own right, but not without earning his spots first. Mike has paid his dues as a sideman over the last fifteen years with the likes of Elkie Brooks, Tony Hadley, Kid Creole, Heather Small, ABC and Sandi Thom. In 2016, he was asked to work alongside the international brand CREAM as their sax and keys player for the CREAM CLASSICS tour in 2016-2018 with K-Klass and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra which he now continues to do. A musician from the age of 10, he went on to study at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he now teaches saxophone. His diverse and wide ranging experience have given him kudos amongst his peers and he has become one of the most sought after sax players in the area.
What to expect
Mike is an experienced, energetic freelance freestyle saxophonist, based in Merseyside. He has been in high demand in the entertainment sector since graduating from the prestigious LIPA, in 2005. His particular love of jazz, funk and soul music has allowed him to improvise/freestyle alongside DJs and fellow musicians across the world. He regularly performs in various venues across the UK, but has also had the opportunity to play in across the world with many household names at some of the biggest venues. Mike is available to play solo saxophone with backing tracks, or saxophone improvising/freestyling alongside a DJ for: weddings, drink receptions, corporate events, functions, private parties and club nights. He has a wide variety of music in his repertoire and is happy to cater for individual requests, whether it be providing subtle lounge 'Ibiza style' chill out lounge background music at drinks receptions, or mingling with guests on the dance floor whilst improvising over funky house tracks alongside a DJ.
