Act Introduction
Shelley Lozano has worked professionally as a cabaret artiste and entertainer for over 35 years. Her work has taken her as far afield as Europe, Kathmandu, India and the Middle East. She is also an author and radio presenter with a weekly wildlife show and through her work, helps raise awareness and funds for endangered wildlife and offers fun and entertaining talks for a variety of functions and events. Shelley can offer various different talks which can be adapted accordingly to accommodate audiences of all ages, at a variety of venues, from schools, clubs and societies to art centres, private functions, golf clubs, theatres, cruises and corporate functions. Shelley will always try to reflect her fee according to the size and budget of the venue. If available, Shelley is happy to take bookings at short notice or cover for cancellations. Duration: approx. 45 minutes but can adapt from 15 mins up to 1.5 hours. Completely self-contained, PAT tested, CRB checked and a member of Equity with public liability insurance of £10,000,000.

'From Cabaret to Conservation', is an inspirational and entertaining talk as Shelley shares her experiences about her life in show business to her work raising awareness and funds for endangered big cats on her travels around the world, and shares her passion and enthusiasm along her favourite wildlife photographs she has taken on her journeys. 'An Entertainer's Life' is an amusing and entertaining look at Shelley's unusual and varied career spanning over 35 years as an entertainer with some 'funny but true' stories about her life in cabaret as a limbo dancer, fire-eater, belly dancer, illusionist, D.J and children's entertainer. 'Endangered Wildlife and Conservation' takes a look at various conservation issues including the illegal pet trade and human-wildlife conflict and includes various facts about the plight of our endangered wildlife. Fully illustrated with beautiful photographs of big cats and other wildlife Shelley has taken on her travels around the world. 'The Ancient Art of Belly Dancing' is a talk about the history and culture of Middle Eastern belly dance which has become very popular in the West as a fun way of keeping fit, for all ages and abilities. Shelley has performed as a belly dancer in cabaret, and also taught belly dancing for over 30 years for adult education, various gyms and dance studios as well as on cruise ships and even via zoom. . Shelley is also a published author and her book 'Wild & Free' is fully illustrated with photographs she has taken from her travels in the wild and include thought-provoking and inspirational poems to raise awareness for big cats, wildlife, nature and the environment. A large portion (20%) of the profits from the sale of her book goes back into the wildlife projects she supports for charities. Shelley is also available for book signings. Shelley has raised thousands of pounds over the years for various charities to help endangered animals in the wild as well as improving conditions for big cats in captivity and through her work, she continues to raise awareness and funds for big cats and endangered wildlife.
About Me
Shelley Lozano started her professional career as a dancer and then formed her own act of limbo dancing and fire-eating. While working in the United Arab Emirates, she soon learnt the art of Middle-Eastern belly dance which she has taught and performed in many different countries. For several years Shelley worked as a DJ and also performed a magic/illusion act. She is a speaker and presenter, with her own local radio show, managed an entertainment agency for ten years, has written a book and various articles for magazines and appeared on numerous radio and television programmes and has worked with many celebrities in Theatres and on Cruise Ships. With a life-long interest in wildlife and a passion for big cats, Shelley has also studied feline behaviour and over the years, raised awareness and funds several conservation projects and wildlife charities. Shelley grew up reading books and watching wildlife documentaries and programmes on the natural world and has met and been inspired by the work of Sir David Attenborough, wildlife artist David Shepherd, Virginia McKenna of Born Free and Jill Robinson of Animals Asia. International Cabaret Artiste / Entertainer Shelley has over 35 years experience in the Entertainment industry as an International Cabaret Artiste and has worked professionally worldwide and supported named Artistes and celebrities. She has appeared on both TV and Radio, Theatre and in Cabaret and also presented an 8 part series for Southampton television called 'Arts 4 Evry1'. Her work has taken her as far-afield as Europe, Kathmandu, India and the UAE and given her a wealth of experience and knowledge in the entertainment industry. Shelley Lozano performed as a Limbo Dancer/Fire Eater, Illusionist, Belly Dancer and DJ. She ran an Entertainments Agency for over 10 years and has taught, written articles on and performed Belly Dancing and appeared in several T.V. programmes and chat shows, radio and magazines. Shelley has worked with and had the pleasure of supporting many named Artistes such as Tony Christie, Ken Dodd, Frankie Vaughan, Bob Monkhouse and June Whitfield in “What`s My Line?”, TVS – “Love me Love me not” and as a guest Artiste on ‘The Time the Place’ and appeared as a cabaret artiste in Peter Kay's series 'Phoenix Nights'. Appearances include the Channel 4 production of Peter Kay’s Pheonix Nights and as a guest Artiste on ‘Cybercafe’ for Meridian TV in November 2000, as guest Artiste/Limbo instructor for Meridian TV’ and ITV2’s “Date my Daughter” in 2005. Various chat shows, videos, commercials (belly dancer in IRN brew), pop promo`s for Manheim Steamroller and photographic work for magazines such as `Bella`. Shelley presented an 8 part series for Southampton Television called “Arts for Evry1”. Recent appearance on BBC Radio Solent, Katie Martin show and Alex Dyke show in July and August 2012 and a regular spot on 103.9 Voice FM as a Presenter with her show "Wildlife 80's". She shares some amusing "funny but true" stories from her past 35 years in show business to her encounters with big cats while supporting various conservation projects and wildlife charities. Includes excerpts of poems from her book 'Wild & Free'. Shelley quickly puts an audience at ease as they warm to her bubbly personality and dedication in supporting wildlife conservation. Her illustrated talks are original and accompanied by slides, photographs and video clips she has taken on her travels around the world to countries such as Costa Rica, Borneo, Thailand and South Africa, along with some quite unique video footage of big cat releases into the wild. Includes information and facts on big cats, wildlife conservation and a questions and answer session. Through her work, she raises awareness and funds for various big cat projects and charities including Cheetah Outreach in South Africa and the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia. Includes a question and answer session at the end.
Talk 3. Endangered Wildlife and Conservation
Shelley has studied big cats and feline behaviour and supports several conservation projects overseas. Shelley delivers an interesting and passionate presentation, focusing on big cats, endangered wildlife and various conservation issues. This power point presentation includes many photographs and short videos Shelley has taken on her travels around the world as well as information on the work of some of the wildlife projects Shelley has supported. Includes facts on endangered wildlife with a questions and answer session at the end. Shelley has visited and investigated many so called 'rescue shelters' where big cats have been kept in terrible conditions or as a 'tourist attraction' in wildlife parks where they can be petted or hand fed in the name of conservation. Through her experiences she is able to convey to the public the reality behind these types of tourist attractions which also includes elephant rides that many people innocently book when on holiday, without realising the animal suffering that goes on to provide this sort of entertainment. A portion of Shelley's fee from this talk goes directly back into funding some of the big cat projects and charities she supports.
