The Soul Federation play classic Soul and Blues Brothers the way it should be played – with a real horn section, stylish stage dress and harmony vocals they appeal to all ages! These 10 people have been setting dance floors alight across the North West since early 2017. Asked back by every venue they have played, the band appeals to all ages. Well known for lively audience interaction. The Soul Federation is a soul band with three piece horn section – trumpet, sax, trombone, two female backing vocals, male lead singer, keys, percussion, rhythm and bass guitars. Supported by its own sound engineer, PAT tested PA and lights, as well as public liability insurance, this is a great band to get people dancing with covers of tunes from Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Dusty Springfield, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Ray Charles and Blues Brothers etc. Over 60 musicians tried out with the band before they finalized the current line up in late 2017. Based in Manchester and Liverpool the band is made up of experienced pro/semi-pro musicians, several of whom have worked internationally. Every venue they have played since starting has asked us back again.

What to expect

We are your chance to dance! For weddings, functions and performance venues the band tailors the timing and length of performance for your needs. For Weddings we will prepare, rehearse and perform your choice of first dance song at no extra charge, even if it is not in our list. As well as showcasing both male and female lead vocals and harmonies the band's instrumentalists demonstrate their versatility with carefully selected occasional solos to supplement the crafted orchestrated ensemble work behind the dynamic vocal front line. Band members' stylish on-stage outfits reflect the music they love playing and adds a distinctive touch to the event. This band has a reputation for reliability, flexibility and professionalism - this helps organizers in the preparation for their event.

Q: How long does setup take? A: Because the acoustics and layout of every room vary and to get the sound right for the show, we suggest allowing a minimum of 75 minutes.
Q: What are your space and power requirements? A: We normally ask for a performance space for the band of at least 6m wide and 4m deep with safe access to adequate electricity sources for band equipment.
Q: Do you take requests? A: For weddings we include the couple's choice of first dance song in our package if notified in advance - we need time to prepare and rehearse it in advance to get things right for such an important point in the day. Our sets are constructed to flow and often link songs together. So, in order to keep the momentum we do not do requests on the night. However, if organizers want to suggest Soul or Blues Brothers style songs in advance we are happy to discuss this to see if we can accommodate them.
