Soultanas are a six-to-ten-piece funk and soul band with up to three fabulous vocalists, a three strong horn section plus an amazing intelligent lighting rig.

* Soultanas are a fabulous nine-piece funk and soul band based near Guildford and available for your party, wedding or other function in London, South East England or further afield. * Soultanas line-up boasts 2 or 3 amazing vocalists and a 3-piece horn section option supported by a back line of guitar, keyboards, bass and drums who will make yours an event to remember. * The band combines timeless 1960s Motown and Atlantic classics with the latest chart-busters. The high calibre musicians forming Soultanas generate a complete and authentic sound that does full justice to the repertoire. * Clients are sometimes surprised that a nine-piece band can be quieter than smaller bands and can readily adjust to suit the occasion and the venue. * Limited space is another challenge that Soultanas can take in their stride. In fact, we pride ourselves on fitting in alongside caterers, DJs and entertainers to contribute to a seamless and relaxed day. * Soultanas additionally have a fabulous and comprehensive lighting rig for the performance area, dance floor and elsewhere as needed to provide the perfect party ambience. * We can channel your own pre-prepared playlist through our sound system while we’re not performing. We would also be delighted to learn and play your choice of first dance at weddings. * With Soultanas you will be offered impeccable service and an outstanding live performance. To conform to many venues’ requirements, the band carries £5 million of public liability insurance cover and PAT certification for all electrical equipment.

What to expect

* Soultanas are a six to ten-piece funk and soul band with three great singers and a three-strong horn section when at full strength. * Prospective clients are always welcome at rehearsals near Guildford. * Our video here with more on our site and elsewhere should give you an accurate idea of our sound. * We have a range of intelligent lighting to suit any space and venue. * We can learn and play a choice of First Dance and can probably help with mics and amplification for speeches if needed. * While we're not playing our two 55 minute sets you would be welcome to route your own playlist (on an iPad, laptop etc.) through our mixing desk and PA.

It was great to meet you again and you are definitely one of the talking points following the day! Someone once told us that guests at a wedding always remember the entertainment (and the food!) and that is certainly the case when it came to you. You provided something for everyone and had us all on our feet. We have had so many people asking who you were and you proved to be a very refreshing, contemporary and funky touch to our day – We won’t hesitate in recommending you to others and will be keeping you on speed dial for future de Caux (now Dawson!!) events! We can’t thank you enough for not only learning our first dance song – everyone thought we had rehearsed it with you – but also entertaining our guests and providing some long lasting memories that we will treasure forever. We always wanted fireworks at our wedding, and that’s just what we got with you guys! Thank you so much.

We booked the Soultanas to play our wedding in May. We could not recommend them highly enough. Music is our shared interest and we love to dance and party with our friends so there was a lot of pressure for us when getting the music right. All our guests, from granddads and uncles to nieces, were dancing the night away. Soul and funk music is a genre we love and accessible for almost everybody. On our request The Soutanas learnt our favourite song for our first dance: “Thinking of You” by Sister Sledge. Our first dance was one of our favourite parts of the day. On the day you wouldn’t have known they were there setting up. They were so professional, liaising directly with the venue and did not bother us at all on the day. Thank you so much for making our wedding day so special, we hoped you enjoyed playing as much as we enjoyed listening. We wish we could go back and do it all again!

The Soultanas were an absolute hit with us and all of our guests. The sound was incredibly authentic and they brought a fun, energetic and soulful atmosphere that helped make our wedding day truly memorable. Excellent in every way. They were flexible, friendly and accommodating from the outset regarding our requests. They saved the day as the wedding venue’s sound system malfunctioned and the band were very accommodating in helping out. Their sets were perfectly judged both in terms of length and song choice – people were dancing all night long and wouldn’t let them go at the end. Many of our guests commented on the band as one of the best wedding bands they’d heard in a while, and I know that some friends are looking to book the band for their own events.

I’m so pleased we chose the Soultanas for our wedding in June 2015 – the band were absolutely brilliant. From our first contact in February 2014, through to our wedding day in June 2015, Laurence from the band was fantastic. He has been very professional, accommodating and understanding. The Soultanas are all fantastic musicians and singers, and played the perfect wedding music to dance to, including a couple of requests. Big thanks as well for letting me take over and sing on a couple! Our wedding guests thoroughly enjoyed it and many told us afterwards they were the best wedding band they’d seen. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Just a note to say how much your music was enjoyed by all at our wedding at Loseley on 6th August. Not only on the day, but afterwards by letter many people expressed their appreciation for such delightful music. People were able to dance or sit at tables and actually talk as the music wasn’t too loud. The younger generation commented on it too! The singers were superb so thank you very much for making the evening such an enjoyable one for all.

A huge thank you to ‘The Soultanas’ for playing at our wedding in August this year. You absolutely made our night… with a mix of old and new songs, you had everyone up dancing. I don’t think there’s been a single guest who didn’t comment on how brilliant you were. You were even kind enough to learn the song for our first dance which was fantastic.
