Tom O’Donnell has brought his unique blend of Americana, Roots, Folk and Country music to audiences in America, England and Europe for years. Featuring stunning vocals and complex and intricate acoustic guitar stylings, Tom’s songs range from thoughtful to hilarious, brooding to joyful, but always beautiful and reflective, whether they celebrate the hardness and resilience of the American heartland, the joy of discovery and insight, or memories and ruminations on life.
A survivor of the Great Folk Revival (or Scare) of the ‘60s, Tom was inspired by the Kingston Trio and later by the singer/songwriters of the era, including Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell and especially John Stewart. Although broadly oriented to Americana, Folk and Roots music, Tom’s tastes are eclectic. Don’t be surprised if you hear some blues, or ‘50s rock & roll, or even British pop. Not to mention more than a bit of humor.

Folk Club Event
I met Tom O’Donnell only recently, on 2 October 2018 to be exact. He was in the south of England and had been invited along to my local folk club by a friend. I was a little late, and slid as unobtrusively as I could into the nearest vacant seat. Sitting opposite me was Tom, and two contributions later it was his turn to sing. With 30 seconds, I was enchanted by the most beautiful voice I have heard in a long time, a voice that moves effortlessly through the registers and has the power to keep you transfixed. Tom is supported by excellent musicians with a range of instruments, stringed, keyboard and percussion. The instruments accompanying each song have been carefully selected to provide a sensitive atmosphere that enhances Tom’s interpretations. And the musical talent runs in the family, as Tom’s son Dave sings the lead in the final song (Hey Julie by Fountains of Wayne).
Tom is one of the most talented and original artists I’ve ever seen, and he puts on a great show, with stories and humour as well as great songs.
