Vintage Ruby is a professional Jazz, Blues & Swing singer based in Oxfordshire, who regularly travels to London and all over the UK and beyond to sing for her clients. Her repertoire covers songs from the 1920s to the present day.
Ruby has a beautifully soft jazz voice, reminiscent of the classic jazz and blues singers of the 1930s and 1940s.
She can turn her hand to any vintage themed event, from 1920s Gatsby, 1930s and 1940s Jazz and sing-a-long songs, 1950s Rat Pack and Rock ’n’ Roll to 1960s Pop and Rock songs.
Jazz standards like 'Fever' and Cole Porter's 'Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love' are mixed with popular songs like Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie' and Caro Emerald's 'That Man'. She also has a good selection of music from most genres including: Jazz, Blues, Swing, Rock 'n' Roll, Pop, Motown, Soul, Country, Folk, Disco and Indie from the 1920s right up to the present day. Perfect for vintage style weddings with songs for all ages!
Ruby can also sing modern songs with a jazzy twist such as songs from the fabulous Postmodern Jukebox band.
Ruby sings at mainly private and corporate events and has sung at awards galas, weddings, on boats, at festivals, fashion shows and a vast array of vintage themed events such as vintage tea parties, Remembrance Day, Great Gatsby and Rock ‘n’ Roll themed events.
With a degree in Theatre from Dartington College of Arts, Ruby moved from Devon to London and embarked on a singing career. Music had always been her first passion, so she had private singing lessons with Nikki Lambourn (professional rock singer and singing coach to professional singers including Lana Del Ray and Beverley Knight).
She then went on to study Jazz, Blues, Gospel and classical singing at Goldsmiths College in London. Whilst at Goldsmiths she also had private singing lessons from professional vocal coach Mike King (choir leader and music director who has worked with Mark Ronson and Florence & The Machine).
She started singing professionally in 2006 after passing auditions for the Covent Garden and London Underground busking licences. Ruby developed many stage skills and interaction with her ‘audience’ of tourists and commuters. It was there over the years that many people including famous faces passed by and helped give her the encouragement that she was on the right path.
This included the singer Boy George who passed by at Leicester Square station saying to her ‘What a beautiful voice!’.
Ruby has the songs and wardrobe fit for any vintage themed event, from the 1920's onwards. She looks forward to making your event a very special day.
I can be flexible at your event and I can sing around speeches, announcements etc. I can create a tailor made set list for you. I can either be a background singer or I can interact with your audience and encourage them to dance and sing along.

Q: How long does setup take?A: My set up can be as quick as 10 minutes if it’s a surprise, however I always aim to arrive at a venue at least 30 minutes to one hour beforehand. Q: What are your space and power requirements?A: I just need a medium sized table and a power point. My PA is very compact, so I just need a small space. Q: Do you take requests?A: Yes, requests in advance are best. I’ll need to know your song requests at least a month before the gig in case I need to learn them. I can learn songs pretty quickly, so if you are booking me last minute, then three days before the gig is probably the latest I can learn new songs, but that would be up to three new songs maximum. If I get requests from the audience on the night, if I know the songs, I’ll be happy to sing them.
